It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…Yes! My favorite time of the year is almost here! To kick off the season of love and giving…a Christmas workshop! Why not share inspiration and creativity right?!
Still inspired by the fun of the Felt Owl Workshop, and requests from friends and other mom crafters for a Christmas themed crafternoon, I set a date for my 2nd workshop.
I really love working with felt and hand sewing. It is quite addicting! You can make almost anything with it. With its gorgeous yummy colors, anything can be cute!
Again I prepared a kit for the girls and precut some of the smaller parts to make our crafternoon smoother and so that they can make more with the time allotted before we all go on our rounds of pick ups of our kids. Mommy crafter and blogger mommanmanila generously offered her beautiful home to be our venue. We stayed in her yoga studio and set up tables and a buffet of snacks, coffee and tea for all the participants. We had Micheal Bubble singing standard Christmas songs in the background to put us all in the Christmas mood! (As I write this post, I am again listening to the soothing voice of Micheal Bubble belt out his Christmas tunes!)
It was a rough start as some of the crafters were a bit weary with the sewing part. They said that the last time they sewed was in home economics class when they were in high school! There was a bit of resistance at first. As everyone started, they were all dead serious and in full concentration! After the first project was made and done, everyone relaxed and started enjoying every stitch in their felt ornament making. The relaxed talk and banter started around the table, having coffee and moving on to the next projects.
I think the best part of these crafternoon sessions is being with women who enjoy what I enjoy, and love what I love. I teach them a new skill, but I learn so much more from them. Little things like getting to know them, about their lives as stay at home moms, as work at home moms or how to knot the thread in an easier way.
I am looking forward to the next crafternoon, in meeting more women who share my love for crafting, and listening to the wonderful stories around the table as we craft and share our lives with each other.
